Winter Academy Animal Law 2018

On January 13, 2018, the second Winter Academy in Animal Law took place at the Technical University (TU) Berlin.

Our speakers:

Antoine F. Goetschel is a Zurich-based lawyer with more than 30 years experience in animal law. He is the founder of the Swiss Stiftung für das Tier im Recht and now President of the Global Animal Law Project (GAL). Goetschel is the author of several comments on  German and Swiss animal law. Antoine Goetschel is a regular guest on television programs and speaker at conferences on animal welfare law.

Friederike Schmitz  is a PhD philosopher, editor of the anthology Tierethik. Grundlagentexte ("animal ethics. foundational texts") at Suhrkamp Verlag, and author of the introduction Tierethik kurz + verständlich ("animal ethics. brief + easy to understand") published by compassion media.

The PhD agricultural scientist Philipp von Gall has long been concerned with the substantive and institutional foundations of agricultural animal policy in Germany and the EU. He is currently a research assistant at the University of Hohenheim. Von Gall's research focuses on the role of values in animal welfare decisions, education, research and subsidy policies for animal husbandry as
